The Arena: Father and Son Campout

Be a part of a great bonding experience for fathers and sons, 1st through 12th grade! We will be meeting at 4PM on Friday, October 7, and coming back 10am on Sunday, October 9. 

Cost: $130 per father/son(s) group

Location of event: Northern Virginia Youth Lions Camp, Boyce, VA

What age group can participate?

Fathers and sons in 1st through 12th grade.

 

Can we arrive late or come early?

Yes.  Teaching and discussion time will be after breakfast and before dinner on Saturday.

 

Is there a bathhouse available?

There is no bathhouse available.  There is a restroom and a porta potty available.

 

What are the sleeping arrangements?

You can bring a tent if you like camping.  Otherwise, there are cabins available.  The cabins have bunks.  You will need to bring a cot or air mattress.  Everyone will need a sleeping bag.

 

What is the schedule for the weekend?

The Arena Schedule

Friday

3:00pm-5:30pm = Arrival and set up camp (Sunset is 6:44pm)

6:00pm = Dinner

7:00pm = Smores around the campfire

11:00pm Quiet Time

 

Saturday

8:00am = Breakfast

9:00am = Session 1 (Lesson, followed by game-time for elementary, and discussion time for fathers and older sons)

10:30am = Session 2(Lesson, followed by game-time for elementary, and discussion time for fathers and older sons)

12:00pm = Lunch

1:00pm = Session 3 (Lesson, followed by game-time for elementary, and discussion time for fathers and older sons)

3:00pm = Free-Time

4:00pm = Session 4 (Lesson, followed by game-time for elementary, and discussion time for fathers and older sons)

6:00pm = Dinner around Campfire (Sunset is 6:42pm)

9:00pm = S’mores

11:00pm = Quiet Time

 

Sunday

8:00am = Breakfast

8:30am = Clean up, Break Down, Pack up

10:00am = Sunday Morning Session

11:00am = Depart

 

What do I need to bring?

SUGGESTED PACKING LIST

-FLASH LIGHT 

-Another flashlight

-Lantern (if you’ve got one)

-Tent (if you tent-camp. Bunkhouses are available.)

-Sleeping bag or blankets and pillow

-Sleeping pad (Cabin bunks are wooden) A couple of blankets folded up will work. The pad

  off your deck furniture can work wonders.

-Rain coat / jacket

-Wool Socks

-Hiking Boots

-Long Johns

-toothbrush/toothpaste

-Extra Water and personal snacks – we will provide water for meals

-Lawn chair/camp chair

-Personal first aid kit if you have one

-bug spray with DEET (deer ticks)

-Personal medications including any EPI pens etc.

-Roasting Sticks

-Mitt/frisbee/pigskin/bocce ball, playing cards etc.

-Knife/Multitool

-Walkie-Talkies (phone reception is as you’d expect in the hills and hollers of Virginia)

-Camp Utensils
